Michaela Kaune

German Soprano Michaela Kaune is a member of the German Opera Berlin since 1997. There she sings roles such as "Marschallin"/DER ROSENKAVALIER, title role in JENUFA (NP Loy/Runnicles), title role in ARIADNE, "Alice"/FALSTAFF, Desdemona/OTELLO, "Tatjana"/EUGEN ONEGIN, "Ellen Orford"/PETER GRIMES, "Micaëla"/CARMEN and "Blanche"/LES DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES.
In upcoming seasons she invited to the Tokyo National Opera for the title role in ARABELLA, the Bavarian State Opera, Munich and Vienna State Opera for "Rosalinde"/DIE FLEDERMAUS, the Opéra de Paris, Bastille as "Gräfin"/CAPRICCIO, the Gran Théâtre de Genève as "Sieglinde"/DIE WALKÜRE and the Bayreuth festival as "Eva"/DIE MEISTERSINGER.
Further important roles of her repertoire are: "Fiordiligi"/COSI FAN TUTTE, "Agathe"/DER FREISCHÜTZ, the title roles in KATJA KABANOVA and RUSALKA and "Marie"/DIE VERKAUFTE BRAUT.
 
For the season 2010/11 she will sing MAHLER 8th Symphony in Bamberg and Prague, MAHLER 2nd Symphony with the MDR Leipzig, the Philharmonic Staatsorchester Hamburg and at the Beethoven-Festival in Warsaw, SCHOSTAKOVICH 14th Symphony with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, 9.BEETHOVEN with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and others.
 
The artist was invited to the Bavarian State Opera Munich, the Semperoper Dresden, the Théâtre de la Monnaie Brussels, the Opéra National de Paris, the Nederlandse Opera, Amsterdam and the Vlaamse Opera, Antwerp, the Salzburg Festival, the Berlin Festival, the Bayreuth Festival, the Festival de Radio France, Ravinia Festival and Maggio Musicale in Florence, to the Carnegie Hall New York and with the NHK Symphony orchestra Tokyo.
Michaela Kaune sang SOLO RECITALS for example at the Dresden Musicfestival the International Beethoven Festival, Bonn and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, with Christoph Eschenbach, Irwin Gage, Helmut Deutsch, Eric Scheider etc.

Michaela Kaune works with conductors such as: Zubin Metha, Christoph Eschenbach, Simone Young, Christian Thielemann, Marek Janowski, Jun Märkl, Kent Nagano, Marc Minkowski Gary Bertini, Friedemann Layer, Stefan Soltesz, Ingo Metzmacher, Markus Stenz, Lothar Zagrosek, Philippe Jordan, Marc Albrecht, Peter Schneider, Alan Gilbert, Dennis Russell Davies, Esa Pekka Salonen, Eliahu Inbal, Eiji Oue, Peter Ruzicka to name some.
 
Recordings: Strauss orchestra songs with NDR Hannover under Eiji Oue, Henze's Nachtstücke und Arien with NDR Hamburg under Peter Ruzicka, Mahler's 2nd Symphony with NHK Symphony Orchestra Tokyo under Jun Märkl and Penderecki's Symphony No. 8 (Lieder der Vergänglichkeit) with the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra and Antoni Wit a.o.
 
Michaela Kaune was born in Hamburg and studied with Prof. Judith Beckmann at the Music Academy of her hometown. She has been a prize winner at the "Belvedere Wettbewerb in Vienna (1996) and was awarded the "Otto-Kasten-Preis" of the "Deutsche Bühnenverein" in 1999.
